When being scammed out of money, everyone hopes to be able to “recover” some of it. Taking advantage of that mentality, scammers have come up with a new trick: PRETENDING TO PROVIDE SUPPORT TO GET BACK THE HANGING MONEY.
How they do it:
- Reach victims through anti-fraud groups, financial support fanpages, or from the victims' own distress posts.
- Promises to get money back, leads to “lawyers” or “legal experts”.
- The “lawyer” asked to download the app from a strange link, with the purpose of taking control of the phone or stealing information.
- Then make up fees: account reopening fees, application fees, return transfer fees, etc.
- The more the victim wants to get their money back, the more they are lured into depositing more money – and continue to lose money a second, third time…
This is a scam after another scam. Many people after losing money from investments, money-making apps... continue to become victims of this "help get money back" trick!
NO ONE CAN GET YOUR MONEY BACK WITH PROMISES.
- DO NOT download strange apps, do not click on links of unknown origin.
- DO NOT transfer more money just in the hope of “getting your old money back”.
- If you have ever been scammed and someone proactively texted you to “help you get your money back”, be alert and double-check. You may be facing a dangerous scam cycle!
