Training to support information safety awareness raising for the deaf community

Because of many barriers in communication and limited exposure to warning and alarm information, the deaf community is very susceptible to forms of fraud such as fraudulent messages, fake calls, phishing emails or even fake sales. Receiving an invitation for urgent support from community representatives, Anti-Phishing (CLD) organized 2 Workshops Training against cyber fraud for deaf people.

Prepare

In September 2023, after receiving an invitation for urgent support from the deaf community regarding the problem of fraud in which they themselves are victims, the Anti-Fraud team decided to carry out a special training project on knowledge anti-fraud. To have funds to run 2 workshops in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, Mr. Ngo Minh Hieu spoke up on behalf of the team to call for support from the community.

After more than 3 days, the total amount of support received by Anti-Fraud has reached the number 9,793,222 VND. Part of the money has been set aside to support those participating in the workshop with travel expenses.

Events in Ho Chi Minh City

After receiving enthusiastic support from sponsors, the Anti-Fraud team quickly planned the first Workshop in Ho Chi Minh City.

The workshop was held on September 30, 2023 at Mola Coffee, 8/4 Ba Huyen Thanh Quan, Ward 6, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City; with 20 friends from the deaf/hard of hearing community participating.

Participating in sharing at the Workshop were core members of the team including: Mr. Le Phuoc Hoa, Mr. Nguyen Hung and Mr. Nguyen Hoang Thang. The first time working directly with a new way of communication, the Anti-Fraud team received enthusiastic support from the interpreters as well as sympathy from the participants in the training session. The first training session was successful beyond expectations.

Events in Hanoi

Following the success of the workshop in Ho Chi Minh City, the Anti-Fraud team continued to organize a training session in Hanoi. Learning from the experience from the first organization, the team has planned more specifically and carefully for the upcoming workshop, with a longer duration and a more or less expanded scale.

Not only sharing and providing experiences on preventing fraud in cyberspace, we will spend more time listening to sharing from participants, answering related questions, in the hope that We hope that the sharing session can help deaf/hard of hearing/hard of hearing people reduce the possibility of falling into scam traps.

Accompanying Anti-Fraud in this workshop is support from SCI Labs and Nami Foundation.

The training workshop was held at ADG Tower, 37 Le Van Thiem, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi with more than 40 participants.

Through this workshop, the Anti-Fraud team not only continues its mission of protecting the community from fraud, but also receives valuable love from the deaf community who participated in the workshop. Anti-Fraud hopes that through these two sharing sessions, it will partly help you not become a victim of fraud in the future.
